Raindrops, and a party

I noticed a big moon out back over the vineyard when I got up this morning. The moon was above or behind some haze in the sky so it was fuzzy-looking, but round and bright. Is it full again already? Summer is flying by and July is over today. August will bring us another heat wave, according to forecasts.

Yesterday afternoon our neighbor from across the street came over and invited us to go over and take part in her 80th birthday party this evening. I think it is otherwise a family event, but we'll see. She and her husband (who's 85) have 7 children, countless grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. The weather is supposed to be clear and warm (24ºC, mid-70's F) this afternoon and evening.

  3. There's something about the realisation that we get invited to more seventieth and eightieth birthday parties than fortieths and fiftieths......still at least they don't go on until the morning, hopefully.
Hope you have a nice time, the weather is looking good for it.

  4. It seems to me it is a bit of an honour to be invited to such and event, and should you attend, maybe some locals will come to your own 80th. 80 is really a birthday to celebrate, as it is undoubtedly downhill from there and not a huge number of people get to see 90. But then parties can be tedious, but also most people will be of her age and easy to chat to.

    1. Most of the attendees will be the neighbors' children and grandchildren, so they will be younger than I am. I think the party will be fun, and I am glad that they invited us. Should I take my camera?

  5. Your neighbors like you and Walt. What a wonderful big family they have! The eighty year old was born in 1935, about ten years before I was born. A lot of history happened in that decade.

  6. Happy birthday to your friendly neighbor, all the way from Vermont, USA (where I'm visiting my sister, and getting to hear a great Montreal radio station , and that interesting Québécois accent).
Great photos, Ken. Enjoy you evening.

  10. Best birthday wishes to your neighbor. Hope it was a lovely party and that you were able to take many good pictures (if they were wanted, although I should imagine that pictures would be welcome).
