I took Tasha out for her walk yesterday morning because Walt was feeling, well, under the weather. His cold is still in the development phase. Mine is winding down. Walt walked Tasha yesterday afternoon, when it was warmer and slightly sunny. This morning it's — guess what — raining again, so maybe I'll go on the walk. On our regular schedule, it's my morning to do it, anyway.
I took the photo above because Tasha was sitting with her front paws
crossed, as she often does. As soon as she saw the camera, she uncrossed
them. Dang. One day she'll cooperate with the photographer...
Before going out for the morning walk, I have to get a turkey in the oven. It's one we bought during the holiday period when they were on sale and have kept in the freezer until now. I put shallots, garlic, bay leaves, thyme, salt (gros sel), black peppercorns, and allspice berries inside to flavor the turkey as it roasts. Then I rubbed the breast and thighs with olive oil and sprinkled on some smoked paprika and hot chili pepper.
In fact, yesterday for lunch we had turkey-barley soup that we made a couple of months ago from a holiday-time turkey carcass. It was delicious and comforting.
