Just a note today to say Happy Holidays to all — bonnes fêtes de fin d'année, as we say in Saint-Aignan.
We are off to the market to buy a fat goose. I might start cooking it this afternoon. That is, if I have a pot big enough to poach it in. More about that as it happens.
Don't eat too much, and be careful on the highways. We are supposed to get rain today, but it's going to snow just north of us, they say.
Ken and Walt, I wish you both a very merry Christmas, and a yummy roast goose!

MERRY XMAS, K & W - a prize for faithful daily posting; as regular as Caillie's walks (I trust - woof)!
ReplyDeleteThank Donna, you too, have a happy Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThanks henri! Happy Xmas to you too. Yes, but with Callie its TWO walks a day!
Meanwhile here in UK we have had endless queues all this week as the country goes mad in preparation for the holidays. We're looking forward to escaping to France next week.

ReplyDeleteExpecting snow storm on Boxing day in my corner.
All best wishes to you and Walt for a Merry Christmas and good health in 2010.
ReplyDeleteWe will be 10 or 11 around the Christmas dinner table, ranging from age 7 to 92, feasting on a fresh ham with kugel and stuffed shells. The variety derives from the Irish, Lithuanian, and Italian origins of those preparing the meal.
By the way, I love the abundant recipes you provide, especially the latest for steak au poivre.
Merry Christmas, Ken & Walt! I'm following your goose story with great interest. Looking forward to more.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Christmas Eve and your Goose dinner! Warmest Wishes to you, Walt and Callie! Martine
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas! Have a wonderful day with what sounds like a really spectacular meal in store.
ReplyDeleteI've only eaten goose once, other than in pâtés and foie gras...hope it goes well!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful holiday!

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Guys, eat drink and be merry, but sober up in time to cook that cassolet...!!!

I think it's too late to ask you to keep one golden egg for me. Just in case, a small one will do.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Ken, Walt and Callie.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas! We have restricted Chaucer's internet access for encouraging bad behavior. Don't speak Dog, but we're pretty sure that last bit means "do not destroy the earth". Whew!
ReplyDeleteMele Kalikimaka! I hope the nene (goose) was delicious!
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays for you and Walt!
