Back to Luynes

I published two posts about the town of Luynes last week, and then I got distracted by the dog's situation and by some foods I enjoy. One of the photos I took in Luynes, which is only 5 miles from the center of the city of Tours, was this 16th century half-timbered house. Here are a few detail photos I also took the day CHM and I were there in 2010.

  1. This statue is magnificent. A chefd’œuvre. The face of the young girl is so expressive! IIRC this house is facing that covered open air market (les halles).

  2. I think it’s amazing that those wooden sculptures have survived with so much detail. Just beautiful! Hope Tasha is ok.

    1. I really don't know if those wooden statues are original or how much they've been restored. Tasha is making progress and starting to put a little bit of weight on her bad leg. It's only been a week since the surgery.

  3. That photo looking up really gives a good sense of all the textures going on in the facade. And the plants in the window boxes. Great looking house - must have been home to a monied family.

    1. I haven't been able to find a lot of information about the history of that house.
