I published two posts about the town of Luynes last week, and then I got distracted by the dog's situation and by some foods I enjoy. One of the photos I took in Luynes, which is only 5 miles from the center of the city of Tours, was this 16th century half-timbered house. Here are a few detail photos I also took the day CHM and I were there in 2010.
This statue is magnificent. A chefd’œuvre. The face of the young girl is so expressive! IIRC this house is facing that covered open air market (les halles).

ReplyDeleteI really don't know if those wooden statues are original or how much they've been restored. Tasha is making progress and starting to put a little bit of weight on her bad leg. It's only been a week since the surgery.
DeleteThat photo looking up really gives a good sense of all the textures going on in the facade. And the plants in the window boxes. Great looking house - must have been home to a monied family.
