Here's a two-minute diaporama made up of a dozen photos of the village and château at Chaumont-sur-Loire that I've taken over the past 20 years. By car, Chaumont (pop. 1100) is on the Loire river about 20 minutes SW of Blois and the same distance NE of Amboise. It's also about a 30-minute walk from the train station in the town of Onzain on the opposite bank of the Loire river, so you can get there by train from Tours, Amboise, or Blois. On a sunny day, it would be a nice walk. You can read about Chaumont and its 15th-century château here.
Tomorrow is my day to get my Covid booster shot. It's about time. Walt is still waiting for the call from the pharmacy to set his appointment up. By the time the third shot kicks in, it will probably be about time for a fourth. Wouldn't a miracle — the Covid-19 virus vanishes from the face of the Earth, for example — be nice right now?
Oh, I'm glad they've got you set to get your booster! I understand that, as before, you're fully protected after about 2 weeks.
ReplyDeleteI posted the following comment a while back, but it disappeared into thin air. Once again, les joyeusetés de l’électronique!
ReplyDeleteI remember when we took photos of the chateau from across the river once when I was going to take the train at Onzain back to Paris, maybe some of those? I was never close to it so this nice slideshow is really appreciated. I’ll look at it several times and enjoy it.
DeleteGreat looking chateau - these high renaissance ones are pretty much my favorites! Its the towers I guess. the wo sides look quite different!
ReplyDeleteSome parts were built centuries before others. Different styles.
DeleteGlad you're getting boostered. Or "bolstered," as my phone spell-check has it. I had no reaction to the first two, but the third one made me sleepy and grumpy for a couple of days afterward.
ReplyDeleteWas that the Moderna vaccine? I've heard friends who had Moderna say they had a 48-hour unpleasant reaction to the shot. I'll be getting Moderna this morning, so I have cleared my schedule until Sunday.
DeleteNope. All three of mine were Pfizer flavor.
DeleteThe last photo shows how lazy the Loire is.
ReplyDeleteIt's very shallow most of the time. Heavy rains upstream can send down a lot of water, but that doesn't happen every year.
DeleteI went to Chaumont to see the annual Garden Festival which was spectacular! The chateau was being restored so not open to the public. Thanks for these great pictures.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to say I've never done that. Maybe this spring...
