The first spring days

Springtime arrived just as the grand confinement began. We've had cold mornings, but many nice afternoons.
Yesterday was especially warm and sunny, so I took my camera out on my evening walk with Tasha.

Today's plan includes taking a lot of potted plants out of the greenhouse attached to the back of our maison and out of the front side sun porch. That's because a warm rain is supposed to fall all afternoon. After over-wintering inside, all the plants and the soil they grow in need a good rainwater rinse.

In the autumn, we decided to try to save as many plants as we could by bringing them in. I'm hoping that I won't have to bring them back in until next fall, but that might be optimistic. Late springtime frost and morning freezes are always a danger here.

Yesterday was only the second or third time this year that I've been able to hang clothes outdoors to dry after running them through the washing machine overnight. Yes, we and most of the people around here still hang clothes out on the line to dry. I enjoy doing it, and the clothes smell so fresh when you bring them back in.

We put these sedum plants in a big plastic planter box 10 or 12 years ago. I has sat out in front of the garden shed for all that time. Now we've brought it closer to the house, setting on the stump of that big blue spruce tree we had to have cut down last autumn. We'll be able to see it more often and enjoy its late summer bloom.

The ornamental prunus tree in the yard is just getting ready to burst into bloom. That's an annual event that we look forward to. Even though confined as far as car trips are concerned, we'll be able to enjoy springtime in the back yard and out in the vineyard if the weather continues nice over the next couple of months.

    1. We are too. I did a lot of cleanup this morning, and Walt mowed the grass. It looks great. We had just light rain for an hour or two this afternoon.

  5. As your spring begins, autumn reaches us here in Australia as has the isolation of home confinement. With this is happening, I started writing again on our Blog. More just add to our time at home than anything else Ken. Sue and I celebrated our wedding anniversary and last week I hit the first of the 70s. Stay safe and healthy to you and Walt.
