Saint-Aignan in summer (29)

I've had this sedum plant for nearly 20 years now. It was growing here when we moved into the house. I transplanted some of it into this planter box and it has thrived with almost no care from me except infrequent watering in summertime dry spells. It's a sedum that flowers in August and September. One French name for it is orpin, and in English it's called stonecrop. Right now, It's about ready to burst into bloom.

On the left is a photo I took a couple of days ago, and on the right a picture of the flowers from a few years back.

  1. Thanks for this picture. When you moved you left me one of these. It now lives at Janice's house in about 10 pots. It lived with me for about 12 or 13 years and almost withered away. I knew she could save it and now it's thriving. Now I have a name I couldn't remember.

    1. I have one sedum that flowers pink and another that flowers yellow. The yellow one is from a cutting off a plant that I was growing in ma's back yard in 2005, the year she sold the house.

  2. Plants that require little care are my favorites. I've never had sedum, but like it's summer bloom.

  3. Sedum is a very dependable plant. Please show us this year’s flowers when they happen.

  4. I kill everything I plant in the ground. I am trying to keep some plant containers alive. Hottest summer, they all wilt fast.
