A gloomy start

After the brightness and color of the holidays comes the gloom of January. I know it won't last forever,
but it sure is gray right now. I'm hoping for snow soon.

I got only about 4 hours of sleep the night before, following that New Year's Eve dinner,
but I went to bed at 8 o'clock last night and slept straight through for 9½ hours.

All the color in our environment is inside the house right now.
I guess I might as well stick to posting pictures of food and cooking.

  1. Pictures of food and cooking are always welcome! But I hope you have some brightening soon.

  2. Happy New Year, Ken. I quite understand about the grey. Snow is preferable to that, any day. I recall winters in Cape Cod as bright and blue, and when it snowed it was magical! It's been grey in London almost every day during December and January is looking no different :(. I hope your wish for snow comes true.

P.S. I wanted to read about your move to France but I could not see a way to search your posts.
I am planning a house hunting trip to France this month or next. I think you'll receive my email address in this comment, so if you are open to my emailing you with some questions perhaps you can email me if you are open to having a chat about such matters :)

    1. Carole, if you start with this post, you'll find links to the next and then previous topics at the end of each post. I believe that you will, anyway. If you still have trouble, let me know. If you speak French and have an income, pension or otherwise, from outside France, or other financial resources, you are on your way.

  3. Cet arbre, tout décharné, c'est le tilleul, n'est-ce pas? Il fait tout maigrichon quand on le compare à son imposante stature au printemps et en été, tout couvert de feuilles. La nature se repose!

  4. I just clicked on the link in your answer to Carole and read with great interest, even with pleasure, the preparation for the selling of your house in Congo Street. No doubt I read these posts when they were published, but today they sounded completely new to me!

A commenter, Roderick, in your post "50 ans déjà", said that post should be expanded and published in some fashion. I've told you about the same thing for ages. You have such a way to tell the most mundane things that makes them interesting and sometimes fascinating.

Could your store your blog's posts, by theme, on CDs or other medium? In my opinion they're worth saving. Do I sound like a broken record?

    1. There are over 5,000 posts on my blog. It would take me years to arrange them by theme. I'd need a staff. I'd have to give up walking the dog and cooking. And what would I ever do with the CDs or whatever? Sell them? To whom? I'd need another staff.

Continuez à alimenter vos blogs respectifs, j'adore !
    Bien amicalement,
    Christiane

  7. Hi Ken, thanks so much for the link to earlier posts.
Re giving up dog walking and cooking, I would never want you to do that! I very much appreciate your frequency of posting and all the topics you have covered over the years, which is why it would be so nice to be able to find what you have written in the past. I thought you might consider adding a search box, so the work would then be with the reader to search topics of their interest, and not with you to categorize them.

    1. There is a search box on the Blogger main screen, above the banner image on the left. It's at least marginally useful.

    2. Hi Carole, I added a search box toward the top of the sidebar. I'll have to do some experimenting with it to see if it works any better than the other seach box I just mentioned.

    3. Thank you Ken. I see I missed the box in the upper left. Your nice header picture caught my eye instead. I'll try the new box. Cheers!
