Walt just pointed out to me that I picked a lousy day on which to have a birthday. It's not just raining outside, but it's snowing too. The snowflakes are big and fat and falling straight down. So are the raindrops.
By the way, 67 is my new age. I don't know if you can believe it. I know I can't. Even so, I just managed to snap a couple of photos out of the kitchen window to document today's malheurs.
I don't think the snow is supposed to last — but I am. I had always said it would be a cold day when I reached such an advanced age. Happy birthday to me.

P.S. Since I took the photos above, the snow has really started to stick.
Here's a shot of Walt and Callie leaving for their morning walk. Walt drew the short straw today!
Happy Birthday Ken - surely it must be 21 ! have a great day. Love Carol & Michael XX
ReplyDeleteThanks C & M. What a strange day this has turned out to be. And I'm suffering from allergy or cold symptoms -- can't tell which at this point. Best to you two.
DeleteHappy Birthday! I knew it must be coming up because we are due in Noyers tomorrow for the annual car bourse. It's always around the time of your birthday. I'm going on a botany outing this afternoon at St Epain. I'd rather it didn't snow on us. The outing is described as a 'sortie botanique et autres curiosités' so I am intrigued. Simon and I happened to come through St Epain yesterday and remarked to one another that we really should stop one day and explore the village. (I bet the 'curiosités' are some sort of hole in the ground.)
ReplyDeleteWell, Tim says it's not snowing down in the Sud-Touraine. It is still snowing heavily here, with what for us is significant accumulation.
DeleteHippo Birdies Ken....
ReplyDeletesorry it is snowing on you for your birthday...
we aren't that far away and we haven't seen a flake...
but, the rain radar does show it disappearing...
and there is clear sky with clouds behind.
So wishing you a good afternoon for your big day....
just keep acting your shoe size and no one will notice the advancing years!!
Have a good day anyway, despite the weather, T&P
It's still snowing here at mid-morning. We have 2 or 3 centimeters on the ground at this point. I haven't mentioned it, but I'm recovering for a major allergy attack that started in North Carolina on Tuesday evening and lasted through all my travels, including during my entire overnight flight from Atlanta back to Paris. Now I think I'm catching a cold. When it snows, it pours.
DeleteWe had some snow, not ten minutes past.... if you can count a few huge flakes as snow!
DeleteSorry to hear about your allergy attack and possible cold...
it's your birthday for gawds' sake... shouldn't happen!!
Tuck yourself away in bed... or in front of the fire... and cuddle a bottle of nice, rich red wine... with a straw in it!
Happy Birthday Ken! Perhaps nature is giving you the gift of a little of everything for your birthday. All your posts are appreciated and enjoyed, thanks for sharing.

Thanks, craig. I appreciate your good comments.
DeleteWhat a miserable scene of Walt and Callie. My partner is 67. I feel a little angry at him at times for being so old but then I am only nine years behind him. I guess the 'anger' comes from the realisation that we do not have the rest of our lives before us, but the remaining part. Oh, I feel a bit teary.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm a little angry, but even more resigned, to my advanced age. Walt is 10+ years younger than me, so we are in the same situation as you. I view this birthday with very mixed emotions. I keep telling myself that I am lucky to have had the long & good life that I have had. Stay optimistic.
DeleteI just did a second birthday post, this one a video of our snow. Have a look: Birthday snow
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, young man. At 67 you're still in the prime of life.
ReplyDeleteI think it's only your allergies that are keeping you from having a fabulous day. First of all, look at that pretty snowfall, just for you! Later there'll be sunshine. You'll be spending your day with some of your favorite beings in the world, Walt and Callie and Bert. Back in NC your mother is continuing to recuperate. She's probably reminiscing about the first time she saw you. You make a lot of people happy with your daily blog. All good things.
E and I wish you a happy birthday and an even better, allergy-free day tomorrow.
Thanks Carolyn and Ernie. Hope to see you this spring.
DeleteHa!, ha!, ha! Again, happy birthday, old man! You should contact the Mareuil's Archeological Society so they can write a paper about you, especially the state of conservation you are in at the extremely ripe age of 67!
ReplyDeleteThanks, CHM. I'll look forward to that paper -- if I live long enough!
Deletehappy birthday, it is spring at my place
ReplyDeleteIt's spring here too, but you might not recognize it as such.
DeleteHey you old fart, we were little kids in NC at the same time :) I am , of course, younger than you but not by much.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday and every other day too .. C
: ^ )
DeleteI hope you don't have the nasty colds that are going around Alabama. Enjoy your snowy birthday, you youngster.
ReplyDeleteNo nasty cold, but allergy symptoms I think. Milder than in N.C. though. Youngster LOL.
