Twenty years ago today, on May 1, 2003, we had begun our "great migration" from California to France via North Carolina. We were driving across the southern part of the North American continent in Walt's Jeep, with our dog Collette and her kennel, pulling a U-Haul trailer. It would be a week-long drive. We were headed to my mother's house in N.C., where we would wait for our French visas de long séjour to be issued. Once we had those, we would travel on to France and take possession of our new house just outside Saint-Aignan. That was the plan.

Wow, what a huge adventure!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hearing about this- I had just met you online about the time you decided to migrate.
ReplyDeleteThat drive across the U.S. must have been exhausting but exhilarating. So fortunate to be free, together, and with France in your future.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed these pictures. I did not know of Acoma. I guess you're referencing the Linda Ronstadt song "Tucson to Tucumcari, Tehachapi to Tonapah."
ReplyDeleteAgree with Evelyn above, I started to follow you back in 2005 I think. I have been through many vicarious adventures. I am so happy that 20 years later you are still at its!!!!
