The grapes in mid-August 2020

None of the rain that was forecast for us actually developed yesterday.
At least it's not so hot now. The grapes are ripening.

Some of these photos have had "special effects" applied to them because I think they look better that way. Given the summer's heat and lack of rain, I figure the grape harvest, les vendanges, will start earlier than usual this year.

  3. Wondering what variety the grapes that are purple and green in the same bunch are?

    1. I'm not sure what variety they are. Gamay, Cabernet Franc, and Côt (Malbec) are some of the grapes grown in the vineyard. I think the bunches with some green and some purple grapes are just in the process of ripening. They'll all turn purple in short order.

  4. Thanks for the tour this morning. I feel like a "member" of the vineyard checking on the progress!

    1. That's how I feel too. I like having the pleasures of the vineyard (walks, views, wines) without the responsibility or risks of owning and tending to it.

  5. That's the best part - not having to maintain it, pay taxes on it, wonder if you are doing with it what is best! Just enjoying it and reaping the benefits!

    1. I greatly admire people who make their living in agriculture. It's not for sissies.
