Au revoir le mois d'août

Here are six signs of the season in photos that I took yesterday afternoon. In meteorological terms, autumn starts tomorrow. In the Loire Valley, we often have a nice arrière-saison, meaning a warm and sunny September and even part of October, but we can't count on it. Time marches on. Weather happens.

Apples covering the ground

Tomatoes picked and waiting

Grapes begging to be harvested

Enjoying warm days on the terrace

Firewood neatly stacked

Autumn clouds rolling in

  1. Yup, that's just about it. My Toms failed miserably this year, but the rest....

    1. Why did your tomatoes fail? Ours suffered some from sunburn, but overall the crop has been great.

    2. I have no idea. Usually I'm overwhelmed, but for the past two years they've been dire. Over the past couple of winters I treated my stakes with Sump Oil, as a preservative, I'm wondering if it's that!

  2. These are all beautiful images that show why you are happiest in France, Ken... it's the right place for you, that's for sure. :)

    1. As I've said, I came here to live out the rest of my life, because it's where I want to be.

  3. No more bed tossing and turning in the heat then and cooler cozy nights to snuggle down. Not a bad thing.

  4. So many apples! Are your home grown Roma tomatoes flavorful? I've yet to run across any here that have any taste.

  5. I like that picture of Tasha posing by the wood pile, as if she'd stacked it herself. "See what I did!" LOL
