Happy Birthday, Ma!

A birthday rose

Today is my mother's birthday. I won't tell you which one it is, but I will tell you that my 59th is coming up in March. You do the math.

Ma has been to France twice since I moved here in 2003, and I've been back to North Carolina to see her three times. I'm hoping she'll be able to come over here again this year. We'll see.

Happy Birthday, Ma. Many happy returns of the day.
With love from your son.

  1. It's pretty hard to do the math without knowing her life story, but that is a beautiful post. I'm glad she comes to France to see you.

    Happy birthday to her!

  2. Hi Betty, I put my birthday wishes on the blog because Ma reads it every morning. She'll be surprised. She doesn't really do e-mail, and as far as I know she hasn't gotten as far as reading blog comments. I need to talk her through that part.

  3. You're pretty lucky! My parents, who are likely younger than yours, don't even read my blog regularly...they just drop in once in a while...sniff!

  4. Happy Birthday MA!
From your friend Evelyn in Alabama.

The rose Ken gave you looks like Peace to me-it's one of my favorite kinds.

My mom's birthday was February 28th- she could have been a leap year baby if 1909 was a leap year which it wasn't.

I hope you get to France again this year, I bet the weather will be good since last year's was so rainy.
