I got my first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine — it's AstraZeneca here for now — yesterday. It was my GP (médecin traitant) who administered it. Actually, I didn't feel a thing. And I haven't had any reaction or side effects from the vaccination. Since I found out on Thursday that I would be vaccinated on Friday, I've had two of the best nights of deep sleep I've had in a year. With AstraZeneca, the second dose (le rappel or "booster") comes three months after the first shot, so that means July. The doctor's office will call me and set up an appointment when the time comes.
Ken, I'm so glad you got your first dose. It's a ray of hope on this long path, isn't it? I like the interiors of Valencay, especially the lustre (dropping one of the few French words I know) in the second picture. How to get it home on the plane? I'm on the fence about the white Normandy armoire....it's pretty but headed a little towards shabby chic style.

DeleteGMTA -- great minds think alike, that was my thought too. Love the color of that light green dress. And I am definitely in favor of the painted armoire, beautiful carving on it.
DeleteI had a huge post-vax feeling of relief, and slept very well for several nights. I think it's a common post-stress reaction.
Glad you got your shot with no side effects. To be vaccinated doesn't mean you have to relax wearing a mask in public or distancing. The pandemic is not over yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if we end up wearing masks for many years. The vaccines have not been proven to remain effective long-term. How will we know when it's safe to go maskless? As for that dress, I'm sure the floors in the château were immaculately clean, so no worries!

DeleteI'm glad you got your jab and I'm not surprised to hear that you slept so well. It's probably the relief of knowing that you will soon have a much lower risk of becoming seriously ill (or worse) if you come into contact with an infected person.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the prospect of regular boosters. We have the flu jab every year so it's just one more thing to add to the list of regular tasks and a lot less trouble than the dental check ups or the car's MOT !!

ReplyDeleteSo glad you got that shot! I don't mind wearing a mask to protect others. SIL is getting his shot today. Somehow it is all going to work out, but it's been quite a process.
Valencay is one of my top three favorite chateaux in France. I love everything about the interior and the exterior and also the fact that it never seems to be crowded with tourists. It is such a joy to visit.
