Most of the photos in this slideshow are ones I've taken of restaurant signs and awnings in Paris. There are plenty to choose from — according to Trip Advisor, there are about 15,500 such establishments in the city. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, all of them will remain closed until February 15. That's five more weeks of confinement for us.
Le Pure Café - strange name for a café. I wonder if it means anything?
ReplyDeleteMe too
DeleteThat's a long shut down. I'm hoping to get the vaccine next week, but don't have an actual appointment yet. Each state is on it's own here.
ReplyDeleteHere's a review I found of Le Pure Cafe: The "heep-ster" atmosphere at lunch is abso-lutely intolerable (unless you happen to be one, in which case turn on your laptop and start smoking your brains out), but the freestanding, monumental horseshoe of a zinc at Le Pure Café has got to be seen.
ReplyDeleteSo it's kind of a cool hipster place, which is I think what the english word pure is meant to convey.
As you noticed, "pure" is an English word. Pure, in French, is the qualifying adjective of a feminine word. So, thet's why le pure café doen't make sense.
DeleteI guess Le Pure was featured in the 2005 movie "Before Sunset" with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. Good film if you haven't seen it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that information, D. Le Pure vise les hipsters purs et durs si j'ai pigé.
DeleteBefore Sunset is available on Amazon Prime in the U.S., but not Amazon Prime in France. Go figure. I was hoping to get to see it, and I see it has 95% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I've seen several of Julie Delpy's movies but not that one.
