Le lèche-vitrines — "licking windows" — means "window-shopping." I do a lot of that when I'm walking around in Paris. And a lot of the windows that I find most attractive feature displays of foods: salads, breads, pastries, pizza, sandwiches, and even raw vegetables and meat. Un peu de lèche-vitrines virtuel is what I've been doing this morning, thanks to my computer screen and my photo archives. Here's a short slideshow.
Un peu de tout pour satisfaire tous les goûts. La pizza est particulièrement appétissante.
ReplyDeleteOh I love this! I miss a pistolet crudité Brie with an egg and a can of lentils sitting on the ground next to my bike along a road somewhere. Soon, hopefully
ReplyDeleteReminds me, why I NEED to go back there. THANKS I needed that.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lori. Paris is a very beautiful city. Happy New Year to you.
DeleteOMG, Ken, you’re killing us! Thank you! A la Mere de Famille is a lovely, old fashioned chocolate shop that I visit on each trip to Paris.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this heads up - I'd no idea they were a chocolatier. We will have to pay a call one day. Their web site is very interesting.
DeleteLenôtre is also a fine chocolatier and deli.
Deletechm Lenôtre looks amazing as well. With a very tempting website I guess lèche le web, lol.
DeleteLOL, David for lèche-web!
Deleteone of my favorite things about France is the beautiful presentation of food everywhere. I'd be happy with a good baguette (which I can't find where I am)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, and I'm sorry you can't get good baguettes. You need to make your own! Bonne Année!
DeleteI needed those photos today, thanks, Ken!
ReplyDeleteExactly the same thoughts as chm!
ReplyDeleteThe sign to the boulangerie, the pizzas, the quiche, the sandwiches on baguettes. Food heaven in a slideshow!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year. Glad you enjoyed the lèche-web experience. Happy New Year!
DeleteThanks for the slide show. Wish I were there.
ReplyDeleteNot only delicious, but amusing. Love the pastry alligator. Cute little guy.
ReplyDeleteI liked the alligator too, and the Eiffel Tower made of bread. Bonne Année!
DeleteAmazingly I haven't had my lunch yet, and darn, there is very little here that can compare with those photos, Ken!
ReplyDeleteWhen you said you like to window-shop and it is mostly food places, I was thinking...patissières, but non, tu as choisi les choses salés - pas de sucrés! Mais je suis d'accord! Ce sont magnifique! And now, what can I possibly fix for my lunch that will satisfy me after your little video??? C'est dommage.
Mary in Oregon
Hi Mary, it's true that Paris has so many window displays and outdoor markets to keep your appetite healthy. I don't have much of a sweet tooth myself, but I love all the rest of the food. Happy New Year to you, in case I haven't already said it.
