Le rouge et le noir

Le rouge, c'est la couleur d'une rose. It's a single red rose on a stalk growing right next to a bush full of pink roses, so it really stands out. Actually, it's kind of an orangey red.

Une rose

Le noir, c'est la couleur du chat, Bertie. In this hot, sunny weather we've been having, he's spending a majority of the daylight hours inside, where it's dim and cool. I think he's probably out during the night, but I don't know, because I'm, well, out (like a light).

Bertie the Black Cat

CHM arrived yesterday from Paris, as planned. I picked him up at the train station in Blois and we had lunch in a restaurant. Well, not exactly in the restaurant — we sat outside to enjoy the hot weather. I didn't take any pictures — too busy talking — so you're getting le rouge et le noir.

  1. Beautiful Rose and great shot of Bertie. Having had black cats, I know how difficult it is to get a good photo.

  2. Beautiful header. That's one I'd keep handy to look at during the winter, because it captures the light of an early summer morning. What a great time of the year this is.

  3. For some reason I have the
    feeling that CHM's trip to
    France this summer is more
    permanent than in the past.
    Might have been something he
    said in a comment.

  4. What Carolyn said and welcome to CHM. I guess he's brought the warm weather with him ;-)

  5. Un grand bonjour à chm :)

Hope you enjoy the visit! Is there a trip planned during his visit again this year?

  6. Sheila, not yet, but I’m working on it.

Evelyn, thank you. Merci. I’m not sure about what I brought weather-wise. Today is overcast, spitting and cool for me, used as I am of SoCal’s desert heat.

Judith, un grand bonjour à vous. No trip this year, just enjoying the quiet and the food at la Renaudière, and meeting with bloggers and commenters.
