One could spend one's life studying the stained-glass windows in cathedrals like the ones at Bourges and Chartres.
I'm not an expert so I'll just give you a few more photos in this last post about them. I just found
I'm not an expert so I'll just give you a few more photos in this last post about them. I just found
an interesting article in French here, on a web site called encyclopédie-bourges.com.
Thanks for all of these!
ReplyDeleteLoving these windows! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMy roommate, who’s a Roman Catholic, looks at a Catholic channel 24/7 and, because the curtain wasn’t drawn enough, I could see a few minutes ago that they were showing stain-glass windows but, by far, not as good as yours. It is fortunate I am so deaf that I can’t unwillingly participate. I still, in time, will be going straight to the right of their imaginary friend!
ReplyDeleteAdmiring all of the fleur de lis in the red and blue window!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat the stained glass windows at Bourges have been. Thank you for sharing these wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that comment, Bob. We are still living a confined life and I'm enjoying going back again, through old photos, to all these places I've been able to see over the past 20 years. Walt and I thought we would travel a lot once we came to live in France in 2003. A few years ago, pre-pandemic, I thought we hadn't ended up traveling much at all. Now I realize I was wrong about that.
DeleteDid you notice that the stained-glass in photo #6 is broken?
ReplyDeleteNo but now that you mention it I see it's cracked.
