Six mois + 24 heures

The haircut deed was done yesterday, and it's a relief. However, I couldn't let that photo I posted yesterday stand as the only evidence that I needed my hair cut. I took that photo when I was still half asleep, and my hair looked really out of control. I had bed head. Here's what it looked like a few hours later, after I took my shower and just before the shearing began. My tonsure (bald spot) doesn't even show...

Here's some of what Walt cut off my head. I just had to take a picture of it. I don't think I'd ever imagined that one day we would need to give each other haircuts.

Here's the result. As Walt says, it's not perfect but it will get better-looking as it grows back. The big birthmark I have on the nape of my neck really shows right now (no photo, please!).  I hope we will be able to go to see the coiffeuse for our next shearing. We don't even know if she will ever re-open her salon down in the village center. If all went well, she had twins in April.

    1. As I said to CHM, the buzz cut, or crew cut, does suit codgers better. Modern... well, I used to be.

  2. For once, tonsure is not a faux ami because it means the same thing in both languages! As Jean said, very modern looking.

    1. I think long hair looks better on young men. We older gents need to be neatly groomed, at least as much as we can. It does feel funny to be hair-free again.

    2. chm, thanks again! I saw in your second comment back to me yesterday that you clarified for me that we also use this term in English. I had no idea! Talking about an intentional bald spot (or the creating thereof) is not a common topic of discussion in my world, I guess--ha! So, tell me, then, in French, is tonsure used for an unintentional bald spot? Or is there a phrase in French that is different, to imply that kind of balding?

    1. That;s what Walt calls "a man bun" — I was considering wearing one, but finally, with summer here, I thought it was better to be sporting a buzz cut. At my age...

  8. Your new haircut looks very smart. And the cooling aspect is good, too.
My dog got her summer haircut today, and the other day I cut my own hair -- took off a couple of inches all around. When I go out in the summer, I wear a hat, so I figure it won't matter.
We do live in interesting times, n'est-ce pas.
