There are also churches in the Brenne. This one, for example, dedicated to saint Marie-Madeleine, is in the town of Mézières-en-Brenne (pop. approx 1,075). Mézières is the biggest town in the Brenne natural region. Its church was built in the early 1300s, so it's about seven centuries old and was consacrated in 1339. The Michelin guide says the stained glass in the church mostly dates back to the 1300s as well. Some windows were restored in the 19th.
Those windows tell the old old story. So wonderful that they are still in good shape.

ReplyDeleteI took these in 2011, with a camera I used back then. They came out. Autre chose: it's almost cold here, especially overnight and and into the morning. We are sleeping as if it were wintertime. Very strange in mid-July. I mentioned to our neighbor from Blois that we didn't have a vegetable garden at all this year. She said a lot of other people have told her the same thing recently.
