Here's one more post about Angles. The village is about an hour east by car from the city of Poitiers, which is also worth exploring. Along the way to Angles, a stop in Chauvigny is worthwhile — not to mention the Château de Touffou. Saint-Savin, with its church and wall paintings) is 20 minutes south of Angles and La Roche-Posay (with its fortified church and stained glass) is 15 minutes north. A little farther north are the towns called Preuilly-sur-Claise and Le Grand-Pressigny, both within a 30-minute drive.
Part of the fun of visiting France is walking around places like this. There are usually others doing the same thing, thinking about the olden days.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great area to explore!

It's where the historical provinces of Touraine, Poitou, and Berry come together.
