La fin de février

So February ends as it began — dark and rainy. And very windy. But not cold. This will probably be the warmest February ever recorded in northern France. And probably one of the dampest. We've been housebound for days at a time, except for walks with the dog, rain or shine. We've tried to take advantage of every dry day.

Walt took an unexpected trip to Upstate New York in the middle of the month because of death in his family. That made me remember my impromptu trip to North Carolina in February 2018, when it became obvious that my mother was not going to survive cancer. In many ways, February is the cruelest month. Now comes March, with my 71st birthday and all the wind and cold rain or sleet that March usually brings. But springtime is the light shining at the end of the tunnel.

  1. Good slide show. It's pretty amazing how different your landscape will be when all the green of spring arrives, then summer will come to the vineyard and there will be grapes. Our February has been wet also, but that is normal. No real cold spell, so I'm expecting a big crop of mosquitoes which are difficult to deal with. Happy leap day!

  3. I just started really feeling that we had gone over the hump, and spring was soon approaching... the sun was shining brightly, birds were chirping, people were out running, and there were signs everywhere for upcoming Friday fish frys! LOL

  4. We had a pretty intense snow storm the day before yesterday, and still a white world without. How will your March come in? Like a lamb do you think?
Ours may be more lion like. March can be such a month of contradictions. I remember one year when I brought out the baby wading pool for my kids because it was so warm and three days later we had nearly ten inches of snow. Your slide shows are always so interesting. I hope you have a good March and a happy birthday.
