On December 17, 2005, we had a nice pink sunset.
And on December 17, 2008, the Christmas cactus was blooming.
It hasn't yet bloomed in 2016.
The dog in the photo is Collette, who passed away in 2006 at the age of 14.
By mid-afternoon on December 17, 2009, we had this much snow on the ground.
We had snow again on the same day in 2010. But none this year...
is your Christmas cactus inside all year? Or do you bring it in when the temps drop?
ReplyDeleteLovely picture with the snow on the ground.
The biggest plant stays inside year-round. It was here when we acquired the house in 2003, and it has had lots of babies. Several have flower buds on them but no actual flowers yet.
DeleteOur cactus usually blooms around Thanksgiving, but nary a bloom this year. I think it had a difficult time outside this summer.
ReplyDeleteI see flower buds on several of my Christmas cactus plants. Maybe they will burst into bloom soon. I think I'll water them all tomorrow.
DeleteFun to see this :)
ReplyDeleteThis is the time of year when I find it difficult to take photos outdoors. Not only are the days very short and the nights long, but there are often days like today when our area is shrouded in dense fog. I have taken some kitchen photos but I think I've overdone those recently.
DeleteNo blooms on my two Christmas cacti yet - most probably in January .
ReplyDeleteSnowing now and will be well below the zero mark at night ; expecting minus 21 C tomorrow night . Won't be fun for those who have to hit thread early on Monday morning because some of the roads could be icy.
I did the Pain Perdu (followed your instructions) it was very good but I believe that I was too easy on the rum for my syrup :-) )
Minus 21C! Ouf! Bon courage.
DeleteBonjour Cousine,
DeleteMinus 21°C! Just the right temperature to take a dip in the Saint-Laurent :—) At +10°C I already feel like a block of ice!
Today, we have freezing rain (pluie verglaçante) here in Northern Virginia. Just opened the front door to take two pictures and closed it back right away.
The temperature in DC is supposed to hit 62°F by noon tomorrow. That's +16°C or more. Noël au balcon...
DeleteI have moved too many times. The plants we had on the balconies and inside in Buenos Aires, all had to be given away .. here I live with cats who might like to eat the wrong kind of plant .. so far I have not even gotten a tree .. I might skip it this year .
ReplyDeleteThe only people here are ...me ... and 3 cats. "We don't need no stinkin tree !! "
what movie was that from ? :)
