Mars 2015 (1)

Having some difficulties with Blogger this morning. The software has crashed two times
as I've been trying to put a post together. These photos are all from March 2015.

  3. Happy National French Language Day! Apparently, this date was declared by the U.N. in 2010:
UN French Language Day (French: Journée de la langue française) is observed annually on 20 March.[1] The event was established by UN's Department of Public Information in 2010 "to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity as well as to promote equal use of all six official languages throughout the Organization".[2]

For the French language, 20 March was chosen as the date since it "coincides with the 40th anniversary of the International Organization of La Francophonie",[3] a group whose members share a common tongue, as well as the humanist values promoted by the French language.[3] Other dates were selected for the celebration of the UN's other five official languages.

    1. This is interesting, Judy. Didn't know there was such a thing! Ken, I too have the occasional problem with blogger where a comment disappears when I click publish. I think that's why you have the occasional day with very few comments, because people aren't able to publish.

    2. Thanks, Judy. I didn't know about la Journée de la langue française, and I heard nothing about it here in France yesterday. I did hear a lot of English words being used on French television news.

  4. I too had various problems with Blogger a day or two ago. Is it a hint that Google will let go of it?
Thank you, Judy, for, this very interesting information. Like Diogenes, I had no idea that a Journée de la langue française existed. I wonder what it might involve if anything. I’ll do some research about la francophonie. I wonder, also, if there is a hispanophonie?
