I was on the pont Neuf, near the old Samaritaine department store, when I took the two photos below.
The Eiffel Tower is just over two miles west of that bridge.
I don't remember whether I knew that the special multi-colored lights on the Eiffel Tower were about to come on.
The timestamps on the photos show that I took the first one four minutes before taking the second one.
On my trip last summer I was crossing the Pont Neuf at the sparkling moment, but my photo doesn't look as good as yours. The memory lasts. I am really enjoying these nighttime photos.

DeleteI love the warm oranges of the lights in these photos, and you captured the sparkling Tour Eiffel at just the right moment. I think it looks as if it is covered in gold and diamonds when it shimmers. The light show goes on still every hour on the hour after dark. Lasts about 5 minutes. I think it stops after 1:00 or 2:00 am.
ReplyDeleteCurious fact: it is actually "illegal" or "interdit" to take photos or video of the Eiffel Tower when it is sparkling because the layout and synchronization design of the lights is copyrighted! Of course, this is never enforced against people capturing the images for their own use, but professionals are supposed to seek prior permission and pay a fee.
