This is another restaurant on my list for my next trip to Paris: la brasserie Les Deux Palais. It's on the île de la Cité just steps from the Palais de Justice, la Sainte-Chapelle, and Notre-Dame cathedral. I think it would be a better place for lunch than for dinner. If I could go there today, I'd order the souris d'agneau braisée au thym, pommes sautées (braised lamb shank).
Oh, yes! I've stood outside of this one and looked at their menu outside. Despite my comfort with French, I'm still totally intimidated by Parisian restaurants and bistros... I feel like I'll do or say something wrong. It's a shame, because it has kept me from enjoying some places that I would have liked to go to. I think I have been inside this one, though!
ReplyDeleteYou know how many American tourists who speak basically no French at all enjoy eating in places like this...
DeleteI don’t know why but I tend to stay away from the larger restaurants in Paris, unless it’s a belle epoch restaurant. I, also, would chose the lamb shank here.

I think brasseries qualify in their great majority as belle époque restaurants.
DeleteLewis would also choose the lamb. I would like the fish, please.
ReplyDeleteLewis has good taste. He's with you, after all. I'm sure the fish or other seafood would be very good too.
DeleteLOL, Ken thanks for that compliment!
DeleteThanks for all of these Paris photos. I can’t wait to get back to France in June. It’s so good to finally be traveling again. Sorry I won’t make it to St. Aignan. All my best to you and Walt
ReplyDeleteHope your travels are fun and rewarding.
