L'appartement de la rue Mayet, Paris 6ème

It wasn't luxurious, but it was quiet, clean, comfortable, functional, affordable, and in a great location. We were going to be staying in Paris for two weeks, so it was much better to have an apartment with a living room and a kitchen that to stay for that long in a small hotel room. Since Walt and I both lived in Paris and went there many times on vacations between 1988 and 2002, we enjoyed shopping in supermarkets and outdoor markets, and then doing some quick and easy cooking in our apartment. We didn't have to spend much on restaurants...

I don't remember what floor the apartment was on, but as you can see there was a sort of spiral staircase in the building. There was also a Nicolas wine shop close by, right next to the entrance to the Duroc metro station. And the Grande Épicerie at the Bon Marché department store was an easy walk, as were the Marché Saxe-Breteuil and the Marché Raspail.

A note about these slideshows: I've noticed that the YouTube video player often reverts to low resolution, which makes the images look blurry. If you click the gear icon at the bottom right of the YouTube screen, you should see a small red HD icon superimposed on the gear. If not, you can click on the gear, open the Quality options, and set the quality to 1080pHD. You can also set a speed for the slideshow to speed it up or slow it down.

  1. I love seeing apartments and hotels in Paris :) I guess it's much harder these days, to get a tourist apartment in Paris, if it's even possible at all.

    1. I don't know about that, J. I see something like 300 AirBnb places advertised for rent in the Paris area.

    1. Once you can't climb a few flights of stairs, it's time to look for places not in Paris but out in the country or in smaller towns. Unfortunately.
