Une dizaine d'images pour le cinquième jour

It's day 5 of the confinement généralisé. I took my camera out on the walk with Tasha yesterday afternoon. It was bright sunny, and warm — I was in shirtsleeves. I talked to some of the vineyard workers, from a distance. They were out pruning the vines in preparation for the new growing season. This slideshow has a running time of about 1½ minutes.

Many of these images are of flowers that grow wild around the vineyard. A lot of trees are in bloom now, and bulbs have been up for a few weeks. Today is supposed to be another sunny day. Too bad we can't take real advantage of it, but at least we can go stumble around in the vineyard with the dog.

  1. Wonderful hyacinths. Glad you appreciate dandelions too...I've always thought them pretty. Cabin fever is setting in with this "self-imposed" exile. I keep hearing the Gilligan's Island theme in my head: "no phone, no lights, no motorcar, not a single luxury..." Sorta feels like that.

    1. Thank FSM for the internet, computers and tablets. With electronics, you're linked to the rest of the world. I am, myself, due to my age, in voluntary confinement. Since I have been very casanier all my life, I don't know what is cabin fever. And not very mobile anymore, I can't even walk around in my neighborhood any longer. As they say, That's life!

    2. If you can't walk, your confinement is involuntary, I think. It's physically imposed, not administratively. I'm sorry about that. Our confinement is involuntary because the government has told us not to go outside, but until they start sending gendarmes into the vineyard, we'll keep walking with Tasha. There's usually nobody else out there, especially early in the morning and late in the afternoon.

D., luckily we have lights, phones, the internet. Our life remains luxurious, even though our freedom of movement is restricted. Luckily, Walt and I are like CHM — casanier et pantouflard.

    3. No, my confinement is voluntary. Reduced mobility doesn't mean I cannot go out with friends in their cars. I canceled several outings as a safety measure. Still, in the next few days, I'll have to walk to the drugstore to pick up my three-month worth of medications. That will be a treat!

  2. They are lovely! You are far ahead of us in northeast Ohio. Only my snowdrops are blooming now. We are the same latitude as Rome, but without the mountains we have a far different climate...You give me hope for spring!

    1. You have a continental climate, with a lot of wind off Alaska, the Yukon, and the Canadian plains. Our weather comes in off the Atlantic, off the Gulf Stream, so our climate is much warmer.

  3. Deleted my comment becausec there were too many typos.

Lovely flowers. Mother nature's invention is amazing! Great photos, too!

  4. Thanks for these beautiful springtime flower photos. I'm so glad that spring is not restricted for any of us :)
By the way, I meant to tell you that, with my iPad, when I tried to adjust cookies in Safari, there was no option to deal with 3rd party cookies. There's just one option: block all cookies (or not).

  5. Spring beauty is making this pandemic more bearable. I think we are three weeks behind you. We can still leave our houses and I try to walk everyday. Most people are using social distancing.
