La Loire à Amboise

It was a high-water day on the Loire river at Amboise in December 2003 when I took these pictures. We had driven up there to see the river cresting. This was one of the highest levels the river had reached since the great Loire flood of 1856.

Ducks swimming on the river didn't panic or complain. Leonardo got a good bath that day, however.

These steps usually lead down to the grassy banks of the river, where people go to fish.

I imagine the owners and employees of the restaurant called Le Saint-Vincent breathed a sigh of relief when the water started going down.
