We are lucky and happy to have two magnificent maple trees just off our front terrace. They are pretty year-round, though their fall colors are the best. They also screen our terrace from passing cars and pedestrians. Here are some November photos of them, along with one of a flowering cherry tree out in our back yard (below).
The rain was steady nearly all day yesterday. When I went out with the dog around 5 p.m. it had slacked off and was again just mist and drizzle. But what I noticed is that the ground has stopped absorbing the rainwater now. There are big puddles everywhere, meaning along the paved road in the hamlet, along the dirt road through the vineyard, and up and down the rows of vines. Walking is more like wading now. Sloshing.
