We are suffering through the "dog days" of August right now. The temperature on our front deck, which faces east and has a roof over it, was slightly above 35ºC — 95ºF — by about five o'clock yesterday afternoon. The humidity is exceptionally high.
Up in the loft, where we spend our evenings and where we sleep, the temperature hit 93ºF by the end of the day. Up there we close the west-facing windows and the black-out blinds on them on afternoons like that.
Today a high of 98.6ºF — 37ºC — is predicted by Accuweather. MétéoFrance says it will "only" be 36ºC. The good news is that tomorrow's high is predicted to be just 26ºC — about 79ºF. We'll be able to breathe easy again.
Geeze! It's one extreme or the other!
ReplyDeleteHave you guys thought of a ductless air conditioner? They can be wall mounted and are very popular in the Pacific Northwest where many homes were built without A/C. I don't think they're terribly expensive. Also see a lot here in SoCal where homes were built without air near the beach, but now need it.
ReplyDeleteKen does not like AC :)
DeleteAhhh I get it. I grew up in Texas, so I had to make peace with AC at an early age, LOL.
