Looking south, north, and west...

...from the top of the Tour Saint-Jacques.

On the left above, the view looking south. I can see the Hôtel-Dieu hospital, Notre-Dame cathedral, and the Panthéon. On the right, looking north, about all you see is the Pompidou Center.

Above left is a close shot of the Saint-Merri church, also north of the Saint-Jacques tower. And above right is the view toward the west out to the La Défense business quarter just outside Paris proper.

  1. These semi-aerial photos of a city, big or small, are always interesting. It is like a quizz to find famous, or less famous buildings. The quality of your photos makes that query so much easier.
La Raffinerie (Pompidou Center) didn’t improve over the years. Give it fifty more years and it will be gone. Bon débarras! To each his/her own!

    1. It is amazing how good those Lumix TZ3 and ZS8 cameras were in good light conditions, including macro shots and zoomed shots. I'm glad you like the pictures. As for the refinery, neither of us will ever know how much longer it will exist.

  2. Great photos Ken. Pompidou sure looks like the era it comes from. I think it is more interesting at street level than from above.

  3. What a great place Paris is…. And so many people will never know it, will never have a chance to go.
