It seems that here in Saint-Aignan, Santa Claus (a.k.a.
le Père Noël) doesn't come down the chimney, but climbs up the side of the house and enters through a window. Santa, his elves, and Frosty the snowman are on display in front of the
hôtel de ville.
This is the view of the Château de Saint-Aignan from the front lawn of the
hôtel de ville.
Near the bridge across the Cher in Saint-Aignan, Santa is depicted as driving around town on a sleigh pulled by a reindeer. I think it's more likely that his ride is this red Citroën 2CV.
Papa Noel can be seen climbing a ladder here. But my favorite is the tradition of the Three Kings climbing a ladder. Very common in Sevilla. Less so on the Costa del Sol.

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Eve!
I love seeing Santa's on rooftops and hanging like that one. They are rare here but we have one in our new neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteFrench Santa is practical - the chimney is full of soot! Happy Holidays to you Ken, Walt, and your readers.

ReplyDeleteI hope we can actually catch up with you next year..........who knows?
Merry Christmas! I love all the photos, but the 2CV is the best! The green one that parks at the Palace of Fine Arts was still there a few months ago. -- Chrissoup
