The two photos in the composite above are not in scale with each other. The busy old tiles are actually much smaller than the plain new tiles. I'm not sure how authentic or accurate the colors are in these photos, really. And after the tile guy applies white grout to the new tiled surfaces, it may look different.
Well, it doesn't look at all green here, but green was the idea we started with. We definitely need to paint the walls a different color, to try to tie it all together. I think the shower itself is going to be nice. Maybe we'll need to change the tile in the rest of the room after all. And give that shower base a good cleaning.
That is looking good... like the 'taupe' tiles... nice shape...
ReplyDeleteBut, it does look 'trés moderne'....
Taupe... yes, I guess so. The tile is glossy, not textured, and I like that feel and look. Gary is doing the grout and some finish work today, while Walt is out looking at paint to find a good color for the walls.
DeleteHint of taupe?
DeleteSomething to pick up shades of the old tiles so you ain't forced to change them?
You know you'll find the right colour.....
A seat in the shower is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThe shower we just had taken out also had a seat in it. I've gotten used to that convenience.
DeleteNo doubt, the old tiles needed replacing. The new ones look great, but I am afraid to say, the old floor tiles really have to go. The seat bench is great and reminds me of the 1980s when......maybe best to leave that there. You don't have children to leave money to, spend it on the floor.
ReplyDeleteWell, the floor is mostly covered by rugs, so it's less important to change it. No rugs in there during the travaux, of course.
DeleteThe shower doors will isolate the shower from the rest and it won't look bad, at all. It'll all blend in .
ReplyDeleteI think you are right on, Ellen.
DeleteOh, I really like the size and style of those tiles. This is going to look great, Ken! I can't wait to see it with the glass enclosure, and whatever paint you will choose for the walls :)
ReplyDeleteI think the old wall tiles have great possibilities. Wait until the shower is finished and stand back and look at it ... I think the mix of the modern glass shower and the tile walls is great ..
ReplyDeleteI like keeping some of the house's original, now-old-fashioned-looking decoration touches. They will all come back into fashion one day.
DeleteCan't wait to see the finished product! I bet you'll find a way to bring it all together. I have a seat in my shower that I also find a very convenient and relaxing feature, particularly wonderful when I was recovering from a couple of surgeries.
ReplyDeleteYou're not going to paint the bathroom original tiles, are you? Just the wall above the tiles?
ReplyDeleteNo, we won't be painting any tile. We've found a color of paint for the walls that looks good, we think.
