Views of and from our house in Decembers past

Above left, Walt talking to a neighbor who was walking her dogs back in from the vineyard.
Above right, the house itself, built in the late 1960s, has been home for us since 2003.

A photo taken from out in the vineyard, as snow melted. Our house is the one farthest on the left in the distance.

Left, the house through woods from a vineyard plot on the north side.
Right, our house, again, farthest on the left, with three neighbors' houses across the road.

    1. We first saw this house in Dec. 2002 and quickly put down some money to hold it while we sold our house in San Francisco. That house sold in just a few weeks and we moved to France. Here in Saint-Aignan we bought this house for only a third of what we had paid for the SF house eight years earlier, and for only about one eighth of what we sold the SF house for in early 2003. Again we were lucky. We both were ready to make the move, and it all worked.

  2. I still remember your cross country trek shortly after I met you on the francophile forum. It seems a short while ago but lots of things have happened since then.

    1. And I remember the first time we talked on the phone. That was in 2003, just after Walt and I arrived here in Saint-Aignan. Then you came and stayed with us for a few days in 2004. Such good memories.

    2. Yes. It was very warm and dry that trip- even in Rouen!

  3. It’s really great to have so much beautiful space around you, and then also a charming home that you two have made so attractive and spacious!

    1. Thanks for that comment, Judy. We do love it here. It's quiet, comfortable, and beautiful. All that, and we are only three miles from two nice supermarkets where we can buy good foods, as well as close to four or five open-air markets. Looking back, we certainly made the right decision when we started to feel a little confined here, contracting with a local man and his crew to convert our attic space into 650 sq. ft. of living space. Life is good.
