Il pleut !

Rain woke me up this morning. Tasha and I enjoyed going out in it so she could do her business. Accuweather (radar map above) says to expect rain for the next "120 minutes" — I hope that's a low estimate. I drew an arrow on the weather map to show where Saint-Aignan is located, under a yellow blob of moderate rain for the moment. The systems are moving from the southwest toward the northeast.

  1. Hope it's a good, steady rain, so the ground can absorb it and not run off, uselesssly!

    1. So far so good, as we say. The rain is moderate to light, and it seems to be soaking in.

  2. Hope the rain cools things down, and revives your kale. I'm sure the vines will like it.

    1. The grapes are still very small. They need to plump up some, as do our tomatoes. We've had at least an inch of rain in 12 hours.

    2. The info on the booking form says Villiers, Indre sur Loire. That's all I know. I've never been to the Loire before. I'm really looking forward to it!

    1. Lucky you... yes, looking at the "historic" for the past 12 hours, you had a lot more yellow and a bit of red than we did... in fact it is still showing rain at yours.

  5. I know how you feel. We had rain yesterday afternoon - moderate to heavy. I felt as though I could see the grass turn green. Of course it's an illusion, but in a few days it'll happen in patches.

    1. Yes, it will happen but slowly. At least I hope it will happen. Let's hope for regular rains for the next few months.

    1. It does, and it feels wonderful. This rain really reminded me of California and the first rains of autumn out there. I remember having to do a careful tour of the yard and deck in advance of the rains after several months of dry weather to make sure nothing like pairs of shoes had been left outside and bring things in before they filled up with water.

  7. Good!!! I saw, from the FB post of a friend who is traveling in Paris right now, that it was raining gently for a good while yesterday. I hoped it would make it to you.

    1. Wednesday's weather map didn't show any rain in Paris, but I do believe it rained up there on Tuesday.

  8. So glad you got some rain, and that it seems to be the "slow" kind that will be absorbed. From your map, it looks as if the center of the country got a good dousing, too, and I read earlier that they had some very high temps in those inland locales.

  9. It's starting to feel like autumn. I remember that back in May and early June I wondered whether we'd ever have any summery weather this year. I needn't have worried. Maybe the extreme heat and drought are over now.
