The jet lag is better, but the weather went south. Fog. Thick fog. Grayness. But warm. Maybe the sun will come back in a day or two, but some rain is predicted. March. Yuck.
Fog means no bright, cheerful photos. One does the best one can given the conditions. Above is the shoreline — in late winter — not far from the house I grew up in. Not visible because of the fog is a mile-long high-rise bridge that joins the town to the barrier island that protects it from the ocean. That means beaches.
The town's old downtown has seen better days. As you can see, its main feature is a very wide street. The buildings are not tall. And the new "downtown" is five or six miles west — it's a stretch of multi-lane highway lined with strip malls, parking lots, and big-box stores. You wouldn't believe the volume of car and truck traffic out there.
I only see one vehicle in the photo that's not an SUV or a pickup truck. Ah, 'merica!
ReplyDeleteha haa haaa, Walt :) So true.
DeleteI've been noticing that ALL of the vehicles outside a local gymnastic's location are SUVS - and mostly Black. 'merica!!! haha

The fog stayed around all day yesterday, with just about 30 minutes of sunshine early in the afternoon before the fog thickened again. I can't really take any interesting photos. Now we're going into a rainy period, until Sunday. I guess I should have come home in April instead of March.
ReplyDeleteTo me, these photos are interesting. Guess I'm easily entertained. The top one says "North Carolina coast" to me and reminds me of some good times.
ReplyDeleteSorry you're going through a rainy, foggy period, but it probably won't last. Don't you have some relatives for you and your mother to visit, somewhere where the sun is shining today?
Yes, rainy, foggy days are terrific for gabfests and lunches! Try to make the best of it, Ken! I'm sure you are just happy too see everyone and they are happy to see you!

March in Alabama has been dark and foggy. The sunshine in Tuscan was a nice change!
