Un gîte rural en France

A few years ago — before covid — we rented a gîte (a vacation house) in the village you can see on the left above. On the right above is what the three-bedroom house looked like.

We were just three miles from the city you see on the right and only a mile from a big shopping center.

Below left is village meeting hall, close to the gîte. There we no events there during our stay. And below right is a view of the fortified barn (the old tower) that the gîte was attached to.

  1. Very nice! I was just showing my French-4 class the gîte you two stayed in with Evelyn and her husband... similar stone to this. I don't remember where it was, though.

  2. It was in the Auvergne and so nice! Gite rentals are my favorite ways to enjoy France.

    1. The village was called Saint-Chamant. It was three or four miles south of Salers. It was a very big house for a very low price.

    2. I loved that house so much- it was elegant with high ceilings and a large dining room. And the milk cows at Salers are a forever memory lol.
