Tiny plums in a custard

Our neighbors across the road — the ones who live in Blois but who have a house here in Saint-Aignan — were here for a few days earlier in the month. When they left, they told us that the plum tree on their property was loaded with fruit. Go take what you want, they said. We won't be back for two or three weeks and we don't want the plums to go to waste. As you can see in the photos above, the ground under the tree is covered with plums too.

So a couple of days ago I went over there and came back home with nearly two pounds of plums. These are small plums about the size of a big cherry. I made a clafoutis, which is a simple custard with fruit in it. It's like a tart but there's no need to make a crust. The custard has flour, milk, sugar, and eggs in it. It's delicious. Here's a link to a recipe.

  2. I looked back at the link and remembered that I haven't tried this with bananas yet. First I will do a peach one, then move on to the banana that CHM recommended.

    1. Hi Madonna. The plums I used to make the clafoutis were all ones that I picked up off the ground under the tree. There are still many kilograms of them out there, either under or on the tree.
