When we arrived in Normandy on June 2, 2003, on our way to Saint-Aignan after catching up with jet lag, the weather was so beautiful that we couldn't resist taking a drive out to the Channel coast. We went to the little town of Étretat (pop. approx. 1,200), which is an hour's drive from Rouen. I think we had lunch on the waterfront, outdoors. I remember that the waiter, without our asking, brought Collette a dish of cold water to help her cope with the heat and her thirst.
So beautiful!
