Un déjeuner au soleil

Just two photos today. This the Auberge Saint-Pierre in Saumur, where we had lunch on that beautiful July day in 2006.
The first photo shows the restaurant staff having having lunch before opening the doors to paying customers at noon.
I wish I could have pulled up a chair and listened to their conversation.

  1. That’s where we had lunch on that beautiful July day. No?
The brick work filing in the half-timbered is interesting.

  2. Walt pointed out that the two photos in this post seemed to be of different buildings. They are, in a way. The restaurant occupies at least two buildings, maybe three, and is on a corner. The employees are on a side street, and the customer tables are on the square, with views of the church.

Time to plan a visit again

    2. Good afternoon Ken, life in much smaller circles these days. Back to the homestead until further notice.
      Duty called.
But yes, I still sneak in here once in a while reminiscing of all things France.

  4. That's a large crew, but the restaurant is large I understand. I like their camaraderie. Restaurants have suffered during this pandemic. It's been especially tough on them.

    1. We didn't go inside but had lunch at a table outside. The restaurant looks big from the photos on the Auberge Saint-Pierre web site.

  5. Enlarged the pic to check out the menu - looks like a nice traditional cafe.

    1. Current customer reviews are mixed on TripAdvisor. Some praise the restaurant to the heavens. Others say food and service are terrible. I haven't been back there since 2006.
