More wisteria pictures

Yesterday was a pretty nice day, but it's awful this morning —
gusty, gray, chilly, and spitting rain. Time for some flower pictures.

This is a wisteria vine that we planted a dozen or so years ago and have trained up onto the west-facing wall of our house. It's been a success, though once it came crashing down to the ground because of strong winds. We put it back up after trimming it to make it more manageable and not so heavy.

I went on a drive yesterday afternoon, but I didn't have time to take any pictures. The sun was shining, all the trees are now turning green, and there are big yellow fields of rapeseed (canola, colza) flowers scattered around the countryside between Saint-Aignan and Saint-Georges-sur-Cher, which was my destination.

While we are waiting for springtime weather to return — we really need to mow the grass again and get the vegetable garden tilled up, but it's too wet out — we're getting some "routine maintenance" done. Haircuts, for example. Visits to the dermatologist's office in Saint-Georges (near Montrichard). The news from la dermato has been pretty good, by the way.

  1. Good to hear the dermotologist is happy with you. Keep up the surveillance!
It's cold and rainy, here in the Paris area, which is good because I took the risk and planted the tomatoes and vegetables we bought last week in Saint-Antonin. So far, so good. As of yesterday, the snails hadn't yet discovered the motherlode.

    1. Hi Ellen, since I grew up on beaches in North Carolina, and suffered frequent sun burn, seeing the dermato’ regularly is important. As for the garden, we haven't set any plants outside yet. It's too cold here this weekend, and I haven't yet worked the soil in the garden plot for 2019's plantings. I'm getting a late start.

  2. Good the dermato test went well. We have a heavy trellis here that I'm thinking about putting some wisteria on.

    1. After the dermato’ found a small skin cancer on my chest in Jan. 2018, and then excised it in June, I was nervous she would find another one, or more. Luckily, I got a clean bill of health this year. Plus an admonition about always putting on crème solaire before going outdoors and orders to return for annual exams in her office.

    1. It has been raining and windy since I took those photos, but the wisteria still looks pretty good.
