Here I am leaving. Well, actually, there I was leaving. It was the summer of 1986, and Walt and I were just beginning a week-long drive across the U.S. from Washington DC to San Francisco (5000 km) in his Subaru hatchback, fitted with a car-top carrier called an S-Cargo. Thirty years ago...
Today, though, I'll be taking the train from Blois-Chambord (as they now call the stop) and staying in a hotel overnight near here:
This afternoon I hope to take a long walk and a lot of photos, weather permitting, in the neighborhood you see in the foreground of this photo from last August:
I'll fly out tomorrow for a couple of weeks in America. Je me souhaite un très bon voyage !
Have a good trip and a safe return, Ken!
ReplyDeleteThanks.

ReplyDeleteKen, I hope all goes well with your trip home and all the best to your mother and family. I have a (still living) 98 year old friend who once told me, "Growing old ain't for sissies."

Delete1986....those were the days. Prepare yourself for political mayhem and mudslinging. In particular
ReplyDeleteby the Republicans. Looking forward to Parisian photos.
Nous aussi, Ken. We hope everything will go well at both your homes.
ReplyDeleteBon Voyage Ken . J'espère que vous aurez du beau temps durant votre séjour et du bon temps avec la famille avec quelques rires en regardant les primaires.Même dans la mort, Nino Scalia fait des remous ...
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, it's pretty cold and windy here in Paris -- to cold for a long promenade IMO. So I'm not sure what my plan is. I only have 3 hours of daylight ahead of me.

ReplyDeletefly safely 5000km is long distance for Europe conditions
ReplyDeleteSafe travels to you Ken.
ReplyDeleteSafe travel over and back, Ken. Thanks for posting interesting comments and photos. And better to ignore all of the politics here. It's ugly, stress producing, and totally wacko. Enjoy your stay otherwise.

The wind died down and the sun came out between 3 and 4 o'clock, so I got a good 2-hour walk after all.

Glad to know it :) Hope all is well, and your reason for traveling nothing serious.
DeleteHappy about your walk about in Paris after all!
ReplyDeleteHave a good trip, hope all goes very well. Joelle arrived here yesterday for two weeks for her first-ever trip to the US. Today in SF, the weather was in the mid 70's, no wind.
