Prophets and saints in color

It's hard to believe it was already ten days ago, June 3, when we had that nice lunch at the Restaurant Agnès Sorel in Genillé. Before we went into the restaurant, we spent a few minutes looking around in the village church across the street. Here a composite photo of some Old Testament prophets and New Testament saints depicted in stained glass inside the church.

Click or tap on the image to enlarge it. Enjoy the colors. And happy Friday the 13th.

By the way, it was 11 years ago this morning that Walt and I woke up in our "new" French house for the first time. And of course it was also a Friday the 13th (2003). So maybe today is a new beginning. The weather is going to be beautiful, and we're getting some things done around here. Also by the way, CHM has gone back to Paris after a really good two-week visit in Saint-Aignan, which included a delicious lunch at the Relais d'Artémis restaurant near the Château de Chambord yesterday. More on that to come...

    1. Anne Marie, at least we can take some comfort in the knowledge that they are all dead by now!

  4. I remember talking to you on the phone from Marie's that summer. It's hard to believe how fast 11 years have passed. Glad you enjoyed your trip, CHM.

  6. This is what I love about good blogs-- your post today made me look for more images of the church, which brought me totally by chance to Susan and Simon's blog post about this church-- which in turn led me to read more about a church in Montrésor and then a bit in an old post by your friends Niall and Antoinette. :)
Was it the original post on Days On the Claise that piqued your interest in seeing the inside of the church in Genillé, and eating at the restaurant there?

  7. Judy, Walt and I have enjoyed meals at the Agnès Sorel since 2005. I remember a good dinner there that year, and a good lunch (canard à l'orange, so delicious) in 2006, both with friends from California. And then I remember that Evelyn and Lewis and I had dinner there in, I think, 2010. But I had never been inside the church (in France, so many churches, and so little time) until last week. I've also posted about the church and château in Montrésor, too, several times, including the time a friend played a piano there in the château that Chopin had used in composing music. If you search for Genillé or Montrésor on my blog, using the search field at the top of the screen, you'll find all those posts.
