The longest and most frigid cold snap we've had in our 20 years of residence in Saint-Aignan started in late January 2012. If I remember correctly, it lasted about two weeks. We had snow and ice on the ground and in the trees and vines for all that time. Here's what it looked like.
I remember that Jan/Feb of 2012 very well in the Gers. Our pond froze over so we could walk on it, and our farm driveway was iced over for the first week of Feb so we couldn't get out. The same week a year later was so warm we had to seek shelter under some trees at a village wine tasting.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous to look at but glad I wasn’t there.

The first photo is my favorite, but I wouldn't attempt climbing that hill when it is icy.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, I love these photos :) I avoid driving on even slightly icy or snowy roads, whenever I can, but it certainly does all look pretty.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! The third photo looks as if it should be the subject of a Japanese woodprint.
