Quebeckers come to France
For the last week or so, we've been watching YouTube videos posted by two guys from Québec who have bought and started renovating a château less than 20 miles from our house, near Valençay. I had heard about them earlier, but hadn't realized they were living so close to us. Here's a link that will take you to their numerous posts about the job they have undertaken:

ReplyDeleteIsn't youtube amazing? The castle is beautiul, but I can't imagine that two guys can get such a large renovation accomplished.
ReplyDeleteThey are contracting out certain jobs, if I understand correctly, and the people in the village are volunteering to help them.

That chateau has great bones, and will look wonderful when completed. I can hear those Quebecois accents.
ReplyDeleteThose two at Chateau Poseidon are young, charming, creative, energetic, and ambitious. They have a long life ahead of them to make this project of theirs a success. It’s wonderful to see someone from my country restore that beautiful landmark in your adopted country. C.
ReplyDeleteTom and Damien lived in Montréal and then moved to Vancouver before deciding to buy a château in France. Tom was born in Québec, I think, and Damien was born in France but his family moved to Québec when he was just a kid.

DeleteWhat a big undertaking, but a beautiful place! As with all accents, the Québecois accent that I usually run across is very different sounding to me, than the pronunciation of European French, but this is ... lighter, I'll say. Just as American English speakers all over our country have different accents, of course :) Fun to listen to!
