Snow today?

There's been talk of snow, or at least sleet, on different weather reports this week. Some have said the temperature would be down near freezing again this morning. But so far that hasn't happened. The temperature is about 40ºF right now (6:00 a.m.). Rain is still in the forecast. Spring is a season of fits and starts here. These are some vineyard photos that I took a week ago, on my birthday.

  1. Hoping you don't get sleet.

  2. I just had a FB memory remind me that it was snowing here, 7 years ago, on yesterday's date. I don't think it added up to much, but... no thanks, I'm done with that.

  3. Yes, but the forsythia is out and the primula are up - they know something good is around the corner.

  4. Sorry, I’m late to the pork and beans party from yesterday. You reminded me of how my mom used to sauté chopped wieners and a large diced Spanish onion until tender (not browned). Then she would then add a can of pork and beans packed in tomato sauce as well as a generous pour of heavy cream. At the end, we would soak up the rest of the sauce with fresh home-baked bread. It was delicious! After I got married and left home, I also began making this recipe. Years later, during the 80s recession, my unemployed husband learned to make this, minus the wieners. On Friday nights, after a week of slaving away at my office job with very long hours, I would come home to this oh-so-comforting dish. We were very poor but it felt rich to me. Luckily, we’re better off now after a lifetime of hard work and he still makes this for us regularly with better quality sausages. Yum! Thank you for the memories and the continued inspiration in your blogs.
