I remember the horse show most of all from that trip. The town has a lovely setting that you captured in the middle photo.
I agree, the horse show and the château de Carrouges were the two highlights of that trip.
When we visited my French au pair family, in 1996, they had a "new" (to them) country house, and it was in La Ferté-Vidame, also in Le Perche... that was the first time that I had heard of that area. It wasn't too terribly far from Chartres.
La Ferté Vidam is also very close to Mortagne-au-Perch (just 16 miles to the east).
