A few days ago we had a rainy night. I took these pictures in our neighbors' flower garden the next morning. At first I didn't want to believe they were peonies. They're so different from the ones we have in our back yard.
Is this what is called a "tree peony" (pivoine arbustive in French)?

ReplyDeleteTo my eye the flowers aren't different. But the peonies in our yard don't have woody stems. They flop over. The ones in the neighbors' yard have woody stems that stand tall.

ReplyDeleteDid you mean because of the height? My sister in in Victoria BC a mild climate and the peonies are like 8-10 feet tall in their yard. One of my favorite flowers.
